Press Release
January 28, 2009

San Francisco, Calif. (January 28, 2009)— Singer Associates, the West Coast’s premier public relations and corporate communications firm, was named by PRWeek as a finalist in its national “Small PR Agency of the Year Award 2009” competition.

A PRWeek Award is the highest accolade in the PR industry, given each year to the best corporate, nonprofit, and agency teams, as well as to the campaigns that they produce. The award will be announced on March 5, 2009 at Tavern on the Green in New York City.

Singer Associates possesses the experience to handle the most difficult crises, public policy issues and communications projects, yet the agency is agile and small enough to give personal service to each client. The agency’s dedication and expertise have fueled its success since its founding in 2000, when Sam Singer started it with a staff of four in San Francisco.

This past year, Singer Associates earned a number of important successes for its clients, including:

  • Contemporary Art Museum at the Presidio: developed the strategy and communications plan to announce the creation of a showplace art museum in San Francisco’s Presidio for the world class contemporary art collection of Gap clothing company founders Donald and Doris Fisher, valued at more than $1 billion.
  •

  • Transbay Joint Powers Authority: provided communications and community outreach for the “Grand Central Station of the West” – a $4 billion transit project that brings together nine transportation systems including California High-Speed Rail, BART, Caltrain and the region’s bus systems along with 2,600 units of housing.
  •

  • SF Bar Pilots: when The Cosco Busan, a 900-foot freighter struck one of the towers of the Bay Bridge spilling 58,000 gallons of fuel into the Bay, Singer Associates helped them tell their story.
  •

  • Winning at the Ballot Box: the agency managed the communications for the winning political campaign for Lennar’s Measure G, which will turn a shuttered military base into a new 10,000 unit mixed-use housing, commercial and affordable housing project that can also serve as a new stadium site for the San Francisco 49ers.
  •

  • San Francisco Zoo: when Tatiana the tiger mauled two men and killed a third at the zoo on Christmas Day 2007, Singer Associates’ persistent and intelligent outreach with the news media and elected leaders helped maintain public support for the institution and put the circumstances of the tragedy in the proper context.

The agency has been a finalist twice before for PRWeek’s “Small PR Agency of the Year.” Additionally, Sam Singer is PR News’ 2008 “Spokesperson of the Year” and agency Executive Vice President, Adam Alberti, was named PRWeek’s “40 under 40” that cites individuals under the age of 40 who provide leadership and innovative thinking.
