San Francisco—Kevin P. O’Brien, former VP/General Manager of KTVU and former President of The Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame, will become CEO and Executive Director of the San Francisco Historical Society starting Jan. 1, the organization announced.

“This opportunity is too good to pass up,” O’Brien said. “With a degree in History and Philosophy from Georgetown University, I have always been fascinated by the study, reasoning and inquiry into historical consequences. When I combine that with my financial and creative background, I hope to continue to bolster the significant reputation and accomplishments of the San Francisco Historical Society.”

“We’re thrilled that Kevin will be joining our organization,” said John Briscoe, SFHS Board President.  “As a 35 year resident of the Bay Area, Kevin brings enormous knowledge and significant contacts in our community. His leadership at KTVU is legendary and his past success with non-profit BASHOF makes him the perfect executive to lead us into the next decade.”

Tom Owens, acting SFHS CEO and former President of the California Historical Society stated, “Kevin impressed us with his passion and energy, making him an executive with the background, experience and desire to do great things going forward. We couldn’t be happier with our selection.”
